Final Project - CD Cover (Front, Back + Inside with Lyrics)
ACTIVITY For this lesson, you will create a CD Cover (inside and Out) based upon your favorite song. The song’s lyrics will serve as an inspiration for the look and feel of your project. You may NOT copy existing album artwork, though you can be inspired by it.
See "DO THIS" below for what is due this final week of class.

Due Dec 15 Step 1: Inspiration Begin by finding the lyrics to your favorite song. It should be a song that has personal meaning, yet also be appropriate for school (PG rated). Feel free to listen to your inspiration song using headphones so as not to disturb others in class. Save a copy and put in to a Google Doc. Once you have the perfect song, dissect it using the following handout: CD design handout. You will turn in this sheet along with your lyrics as a Google Doc with your name and date. Due Dec 17 Color Research & Texture Research Step 2: COLOR Search the internet to find examples of how graphic designers have incorporated color into CD design. Find at least one example of each of the bulleted items listed below. Save copies and put them into a Google Doc. Be sure to label your images with the subcategory of color, as well as cite the url where your images are originally from. Here are the art elements that you should find examples of: Color
Bold use of color (bright color, many colors, etc.)

Primarily black and white
Step 3 Texture Research For homework, photograph five different examples of textures from around school or your neighborhood. These should be saved in a Google Drive folder for use in your project. You will also put these into a Google Doc and turn in to me. Here are some examples of different types of texture:
Rough/Distressed
Gritty

Be sure to save your electronic files in a Google Drive or Dropbox folder you can access in class. You might wind up using them for your project.
